Call for Presentations – 2010 GeoTec Event

                                             April 13-15, 2010 | Toronto, Ontario

GeoTec Event 2010 is the No. 1 gathering place for top-level GIS users, managers, technical advisers and planners from the private and public sectors looking for insights, ideas and innovations to help boost best practices and profitability. As Canada’s largest GIS conference, the GeoTec Event attracts professionals from around the world. The conference is designed to provide a broad vendor-neutral overview of geospatial-technology tools and applications.

We’re currently seeking qualified speakers to deliver timely, high-quality presentations (papers, sessions, panel discussions) that will fit into the following concurrent tracks: Data, Emerging Technologies, Executive Decision Support and Interoperability.

Format

All sessions must speak directly to the issues associated with application solutions, best practices or profitability (e.g., how to boost revenue, how to cut expenses, etc.). Proposals that do not illustrate one or all of these issues will not be considered for inclusion in the conference program.

All session proposals must be educational and noncommercial in nature. Proposals that promote a company or its products are inappropriate and will not be accepted.

Definitions of Presentations

• Formal Paper—30-minute presentation. Generally 20-25 minutes for the presentation, followed by a five minute question and answer period.
• Session—90-minute panel discussion or collaboration of three 30-minute formal papers addressing a specific topic.
• Interactive Case Study—90-minute session, generally with three speakers, each giving 30-minute presentations. The first presentation is usually the overview of the case study and products used; the second covers the technology used in the study; and the third is about the implementation, often from the customer’s perspective.
• Poster Presentation—visual display of project data and findings. Ideal for students. Poster presentations debut during the Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall and will be on display throughout the conference.

Presentations are limited to three per organization.

If you propose a panel session, please supply the names and complete contact information for each panelist and an abstract describing the general topic. You are expected to act as organizer and moderator for that session.

Speaker Guidelines

Speakers are not compensated for presenting, but will receive complimentary admission to the exhibit hall and a daily registration on the day they speak. Accepted speakers must sign and submit a speaker agreement, present their paper on the conference-supplied PowerPoint template, and supply an electronic copy of the presentation by a specific date so the post-conference proceedings can be published online.
